Reports show that 97% of the cultivated varieties of plants growing 100 years ago, are now gone forever.
The natural cycle of heirloom -open pollinated seed is to breed true to type from year to year. For thousands of years all around the world people have grown and saved their own seed. To plant again the next season to provide food for their own needs. These seed are as diverse as the many regions around the world that they are grown. Heirloom-open pollinated seed have a way of adapting to the region that they are grown. For me a seed is more precious then gold, as it has the ability to feed the world.
